Elevating maternal health care by supporting the whole woman behind the mother

Mothers need their own form of health care, one that honours the significance of their stage of life and the new path upon which they now walk through the world. One that understands the importance of recovery, the need to rebuild, the life to reclaim, and the woman behind the mother to be rediscovered.

Hello,

I’m Georgie, a degree-qualified naturopath, feeding therapist, and mother. My work is dedicated to supporting and caring for mothers and all those who depend on them, from their babies, to their children and families.

From the early days of new motherhood, through postpartum and beyond into family life, I provide naturopathic care to new mums, babies, children, and not-so-new mothers alike.

I am a compassionate and contentious practitioner who believes in an evidence-based, personalised, and holistic approach to health care.

My story

It was through my own experience of new motherhood that I became enlivened with a desire to work with mothers and all those they are caring for.

After living through the physical and emotional challenges of becoming and being a mother, I found myself feeling weighted down by depletion and exhaustion. From a birth with complications making for a challenging postpartum recovery, to an unsettled and highly sensitive baby, it all took its toll. I was left shellshocked by how difficult postpartum and new motherhood was proving to be.

But slowly, by using the same naturopathic knowledge I was trained to help others with, I was able to nourish myself back to good health and cultivate resilience to carry on and actually enjoy the wild ride that is motherhood.

I was immensely grateful that I could apply these principles to support myself. So, when I learned of the difficult postpartum experiences of other mothers, women who felt equally depleted but had no idea of what changes to make, I became determined to be a force for change in maternal health care and provide mothers with the support they need and deserve.

…and their little ones too

There is no mother without her baby or child, and there is no baby or child without a mother. This dyad is a partnership that requires special care and understanding, and, in my commitment to caring for mothers, I also support their babies and children too.

Clinical experience has taught me that babies and children are particularly well suited to naturopathy as they respond very well to the medicines we use. They have strong vitality that is unencumbered by the baggage of adulthood, which allows them to bounce back to good health quickly when the right strategies are put in place.

I believe in a gentle and respectful approach to caring for babies, toddlers, and children, and my guidance is always grounded in these values. As their mother, I know that you are the expert on your child and trust in your instincts as an important piece of the whole picture.
